Cisco Valet Hopes to Simplify Home Wireless Networks

With most household owning more than one computer and possibly several other web capable devices, connecting them all to the internet through one shared connection by setting up a wireless router can be challenging to the less technically inclined. Cisco a leader in corporate networking equipment is hoping one of its newest products will make it a household name in home networking. The Cisco Valet is intended to make wireless networking simple and accessible for just about everybody. The whole idea of Valet would be to transform how families use the Internet in their homes, letting them enjoy the freedom of wireless access without having to be bogged down by often frustrating and complex wireless network setups.

Valet is touted to be the first wireless product line that is dummy-proof, making it a snap for virtually anyone to set up and manage their own home wireless network. All you need to do is insert the included Easy Setup Key straight into a USB port that is available on your computer (PC or Mac, it doesn’t matter), and let the Cisco Connect software load to finish up the rest of the job. Cisco claims that other wireless products require 20 to 30 complicated steps before you can set up a single computer, but their Cisco Connect software is capable of taking you to the promised land in but three steps – from start to finish. The Easy Setup Key will retain all setup information and can be inserted into other computers lying around your home to seamlessly add them to the home’s wireless network.

When set up is complete, the Valet will offer users a simple way to manage their family’s home wireless experience. You can add additional devices to the network, set parental controls, provide Internet access for guests on a separate guest network and customize personal security settings inclusive of passwords. Apart from that, all these controls can be set on-the-fly, letting you modify web usage for selected days and times of the week, and even for temporary periods if the need arises.

JooJoo Hopes to be iPad Alternative

With the first of Apple’s version of the tablet computer slated to reach stores tomorrow, the computing world is focused brightly on this often overlooked style of computer. Apple Begins Shipping iPad Pre-orders

The first wave of reports saying iPad pre-orders are shipping started coming in on Monday morning, ahead of the multimedia tablet’s official Saturday launch date.

The iPad isn’t scheduled to be available until April 3, so the units that are in transit now will most likely stop in a shipping holding facility so that they don’t land in customer’s hands before Saturday.

Apple unveiled the iPad at a special media event in January, and began taking pre-orders and reservations for in-store pickups on March 12. The company, however, pushed the delivery date from April 3 to April 12 over the weekend for all new pre-order requests and dropped the option for reservations.

Only the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB iPad with Wi-Fi will be available on Saturday. Wi-Fi plus 3G models are set to ship before the end of April.

The iPad is a multimedia tablet that can run most iPhone applications. It includes a 9.7-inch multi-touch display, movie and music playback support, an ebook reader and iTunes-like ebook store, Bluetooth with support for external keyboards, and more.

The Multi-Touch screen on iPad is based on the same revolutionary technology on iPhone. But the technology has been completely re-engineered for the larger iPad surface, making it extremely precise and responsive. So whether you’re zooming in on a map, flicking through your photos, or deleting an email, iPad responds with incredible accuracy. Microsoft Courier Challenges Apple’s iPad

Apple’s new iPad device isn’t even on the market yet and already Microsoft is coming for them. New pictures and videos have hit the net with more details on the dual screen tablet from Bill Gates and company. Not one to be out shined just because they have arrived late to the party, Microsoft hopes its dual screen tablet will be twice as nice as the iPad from Apple.

Not much is known yet about the device, but word on the street is that it will function as a digital journal, as well as being under an inch thick, and weigh a little over a pound. Check out the video below to see how this might work.

HYPETunes – Miles and Louis Remixed

One of the best uses of the internet is discovering or rediscovering great talent. Sometimes you can do both at the same time. Case in point is the Miles Remixed project from the producer and DJ known as Apple Juice Kid. He’s worked with a number of noted Hip Hop artists such as Outkast, MC Lyte, Wale, Mos Def, D Woods formerly of Danity Kane and the Jungle Brothers. One of his side projects is mixing legendary jazz artists with hip hop and jungle beats to create a modern take on classic jazz standards. The likelihood of screwing something up like this and pissing off scores of jazz and hip hop fanatics was high so props go out to Apple Juice Kid for making a project that sounds dope!
